What to Bring / Wear

Each child is asked to bring a clearly named bag.  This enables them to be responsible for carrying their snack, lunch, drink and a change of clothes (in case of an accident) to Pre-School.  A locker will be allocated to each child for their bag and we ask that you encourage your child to find their own locker and place their bag there.

Kinder is all about learning through play, and some of this play can be quite messy.  While smocks are provided for messy activities, it is not possible for children to stay clean at all times, so please send your child to kinder in suitable clothes they can play in.  Keep in mind that these clothes should be easy to manage themselves e.g., trousers that pull down easily when the seconds count!!!

Sensible footwear that fits properly is important for safety and foot development.  Thongs, slides and slippery soled shoes are discouraged.

Please label all items of your child’s clothing and belongings.  If you need labels and would like to help the Pre-School accumulate commission then go to Stuck On You.

Uniform (optional)

The uniform is not compulsory, however the following items with the kinder logo are available to purchase should you wish to.

  • Hat
  • Polo tops with short sleeve
  • Polo tops with long sleeve
  • Windcheaters

Sun Smart Policy

Lara Lake Community Pre-School is a Sun smart Pre-School with an approved Cancer Council Policy.

Your child must bring a labelled sun hat to each kinder session.  Some parents also choose to sew a special button or motif on their child's hat so that it is easy for them to recognise as all the hats look the same!

Please pack a "roll on" sunscreen with your child's name on it and before outside play children will be asked to apply their own sunscreen.  This promotes independence and a healthy sun smart lifestyle.  In addition, we ask that you apply sunscreen prior to your child's arrival.

It is also requested that children wear appropriate clothing – no bare shoulders or backs.

Toys from Home

Toys from home are not permitted at Pre-School as there could be some children upset if a favourite item is lost or damaged.
