Being Respectful is about honesty and transparency. We believe in working cohesively where we are able to express ourselves in a respectful manner and be considerate of everyone’s views.
Belonging
We are one Preschool and united in our approach. We want our leaders and staff to feel part of one team and support and welcome each other in unity.
Wellbeing
Is the experience of health, happiness and prosperity. We believe in achieving good mental and physical health and providing a good sense of meaning or purpose with all that we do.
Community
We are passionate about our community and are committed to delivering exceptional education to our children. Through collaboration between staff and families we work as ‘one’ united team, motivating one another in our community both in the Preschool and on outings.
LARA LAKE COMMUNITY PRE-SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY
Lara Lake Community Pre-School acknowledges the Wadawurrung people, the traditional custodians of the land on which we play, learn and grow.
Lara Lake Community Pre-School is an independent, community based, not for profit association. We encourage, nurture and aspire to create meaningful relationships with our community and welcome family participation and engagement. Our governance structure comprises a Committee of Management team, led by dedicated past and present parent volunteers. Our sense of “community” is embedded.
We are committed to the safety, health and wellbeing of all children and young people. We actively engage to embed the cultural safety of all children including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, as well as safety of children with a disability and vulnerable children.
Providing an inclusive early childhood education program, we encourage children to respect all individuals regardless of gender, identity, religion, culture, race and ability. We believe that our sense of community and the relationships we form are the building blocks within establishing trust, understanding and respect. As early childhood education professionals, we are committed to upholding the values of the Early Childhood Australia’s Code of Ethics.
Our approach to children’s learning and development is guided by the nationally approved Early Years Learning Framework. We abide by the National Quality Framework and apply the National Quality Standards within our service. Our Quality Improvement Plan is dynamic, and is supported by ongoing critical reflection and collaboration with children, staff, committee members, families and our community. We continually review, assess and reflect on our policies, practice and areas of need.
At Lara Lake Community Preschool our pedagogy practices of learning and teaching is influenced by the cultural and social values we have for children. Our curriculum reflects and supports our principles and practices. We ensure we listen to the children and give them the opportunity to contribute, feel empowered and be heard. We are dedicated and committed to each child’s pathway of lifelong learning. Aiming to encourage children to reach their full potential and enrich their understanding, self-achievements and cultural identities accomplishing a sense of “Being, Belonging and Becoming”.
We seek to achieve a balance of child-initiated exploration and intentional teaching within our play-based programs, seizing the spontaneous opportunities for learning. Play assists in promoting a sense of agency and independence and encourages children to be in control of their own learning. Through play all children are appropriately challenged and encouraged to explore, discover, and make sense of their world.
Our community and the world in which we all live are valued, we understand the significance of teaching our children the importance of caring for our environments through sustainable practices, programs and policies.
Lara Lake Community Pre-School is a great place to play, learn and grow.
