Fee Free Kindergarten
Kindergarten programs for 4-year-old and 3-year-old children in Victorian Government funded services is “free” as part of the Best Start, Best Life early childhood education reform. This investment will save families up to $2,500 for each child enrolled in a participating funded kindergarten program for 15 hours.
The Department of Education (DE) also provides funding to assist 3-year-old from a refugee or asylum seeker background Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and children known to Child Protection, to access kindergarten programs.
Lara Lake Community Pre-School Inc. (LLCP) has opted-in to the Victorian Government’s “Free Kindergarten” initiative. Therefore, applicable parent fees for the funded sessional kindergarten programs are:
- For 3-year-old children (9 hours and up to 15 hours per week) – no parent fee
- For 4-year-old children (15 hours per week / 600 hours per year) – no parent fee
What is payable?
The 2024/2025 Fee Schedule is as follows:
Enrolment Deposit – $100
- A charge to secure a place that has been offered in a program at the service.
- Enrolment deposits will only be refunded if the child commences at the service. Families have the opportunity to donate the Enrolment Deposit to help improve the kinder facilities and program.

Excursion charge
- At times throughout the year, additional excursion(s) may be arranged where it is considered relevant to the service’s kindergarten program and emerging children’s interests. An additional charge to meet the cost (eg. entry fee and bus/transport cost) of these excursions will consider affordability and relevance to the program and children’s interests before a decision is made that will require families to pay this additional charge. (This will not be charged to concession card holders.)

Late collection fee
- A flat fee of $25 for the first 15 minutes late collection after session finish time and $3 per minute late thereafter.
- Parents/guardians or authorised nominees are required to pick up children by the end of session. Where this does not occur, we reserve the right to charge a late collection fee to recover unfunded staff salary costs. We are a community run organisation and rely solely on government funding to operate, we are not sustainable if we incur unfunded costs.
